One bright morning in Sanur MW arrived at Bali Kite Center to meet the manager there. With a friendly smile and kisses on both cheeks, Dewi welcomed us warmly…here is her story in Behind the Swell this month…

 

As the oldest child and only girl in her family Dewi is used to being independent and really loves to work. She also got a scholarship to high school because of her skill at badminton. While she was still in high school she worked in a shop in Kuta and she has since had many jobs including announcer at Kuta Radio, sales assistant at Rip Curl,Visual Merchandiser any many more.

 

Since November 2009 she has been the Manager of Bali Kite Center. “It wasn’t easy to get this job, because I started out as the manager’s assistant. It’s not technically difficult but it’s mentally trying and challenging.” she said. Apart from running the new store Dewi also promotes kite surfing as a new sport in Indonesia, although at the moment weather conditions aren’t good for kite surfing (no wind – Ed), Dewi perseveres to reach her target. “Luckily I was able to learn a lot from the previous manager and the owner is really supportive. Apart from thinking about sales strategies I also have to make the team here solid. So I have a lot more responsibility now.” Even so, Dewi enjoys all the responsibilities she has to manage.  (owwh….cool-Ed)

 

Yess…she’s a manager, but when she gets home she is the mother of toddler, Desta Amartha and wife of Pak Herman. That’s her homework “I try to be a good housewife but I need to share my time between my family and my job. Sunday is family day.” she said.

 

Dewi aims to become a successful person while balancing her private life and her career and she is so happy that her husband always supports her career. “My husband is my life partner, he is understanding and he prioritises communication in the family.” Dewi said with shining eyes as she finished up her chat with MW.
