Niza or Icha Gomin

Tell us about yourself
I was born in Bandung and lived in Bangladesh for a few years and then grew up in Jakarta. I went to school at ESMOD Jakarta for 3 years to study fashion design and pattern making and I had a small workshop for 5 years while I worked as a freelance stylist for Production House and several fashion magazines.

How did you start working at Surfer Girl?

I was visiting a friend at the head office in Legian and met Steve Palmer, we chatted a lot and he offered me a job. I could see that Surfer Girl was a brand with a lot of potential and it would be an interesting challenge to work there.

How long have you been at Surfer Girl and what is your position there?
I’ve been there for 10 months now and I am the fashion design partner of Niki, one of the fashionistas at Surfer Girl.

What’s it like working at Surfer Girl, the good and the bad?
Working at Surfer Girl is great for me. The creative vibe is great, it’s fun and it’s challenging. We always have to be positive to cope with the heavy workload, deadline and pressure so that at the end of the day we can still have fun while finishing our work =D ….good or bad is relative for everyone….for me personally I always feel happy even under pressure because I love my job and I love what I do for Surfer Girl.

Tell us about your job and what is Surfer Girl’s edge?
My job is to realize Niki’s designs and ideas from planning and concept to the finished product without disturbing her body surfing schedule =) I think Surfer Girl’s edge is that it’s a unique brand using a comic concept and stories about the adventures and day to day life of a surfer girl.

You like to party right? Any experiences going out and getting really drunk?
Wah…I’m already old bro =P  I prefer to go to small rock gigs and see potential new bands make their way in the scene rather than going to a night club. Sometimes I will go to small club parties where I know the music is different….

Your favourite clubbing spot?
I like HOME bar , different music with a diverse crowd, small place and very comfy.

Your hopes for the future for Surfer Girl?
I hope I can develop along with Surfer Girl. So much has changed and moved on at Surfer Girl…we have more products, we’re on our way to be more committed to the environment and society and we’re growing to be a better brand than you’ve ever seen us in the last 10 years. I have learned so much … and there’s more to accomplish in the near future.

Yup, last word for MW …
Thanks for having me share the fun and thanks for supporting the surfer girls =D
