Congratulations on becoming ISC champion and gold medallist at the ABG...How do you feel, aside from being happy of course?
Apart from being happy, I have made history. Thank you so much to all my friends who have supported me.

Who has helped you the most in this achievement?
Ummy and my father, brothers, friends, Harry, Oma ( Om Arya), Made Switra, all the people of Bali and the media as well.

Tell us how you started surfing.
I was about 6 or 7 years old and Diki Zulfikar took me at Cimaja. I used to always play at the beach and swim in the ocean.

How did you get to Bali, who brought you?
In the first place with the the surfing brand Spyderbilt and after that, until now, I’m with Hurley.

Fave spot?
Cimaja and Bali

Any exciting experiences going to surfing spots?
Lots.....

What do you think of surfer girls?
They need to practice a lot and not worry about getting dark skin.....cause dark.... is sexy...hahahahh

We know you don’t smoke or drink alcohol ...how do you maintain that lifestyle?
It’s not hard for me, it’s what I’m used to.

Have you ever had special treatment because people know you’re a surfer or that you are Dede Suryana?
What?!, of course people knowI’m a surfer....

Any plans for a surfing related project?
Not yet but I’m still trying to promote the sport of surfing in Indonesia.

Do you have a girlfriend?
Hahahahah...lots, every day the waves are sexy....so I am dating every day....hahahahh

What do you do when you’re not surfing?
Apart from surfing.......sleep, relax, Karaoke at home....

Your brothers surf too right?
All my brothers are surfers

What type of music, books and films do you like?
Any music good to listen to.....Indo pop is also awesome....

You’re learning how to be a videographer right...tell us about it, who do you do it with and how far have you got with it?
I learn by myself....Oki films and I just edit the footage myself, sometimes I upload onto websites and if anyone asks for footage I give it to them.

What’s your secret Dede?
Self confidence, patience and constant practice.

What do you still have left to do in surfing?
Make a film myself...
