Can you tell us about the first time you tried surfing?
It’s a long time ago now. About 8 or 9 years ago.

Where do you usually surf ?
Anywhere as long as there are waves.

Now you’re busy judging grommet contests (MSC) …when did you start judging ?
About 2 years ago starting from the grommet contest with Yuki and Oakley at Kartika Beach.

What is the scoring system for a contest ?
A surfer can take a maximum of 10 waves and the 2 best waves are scored.

What is the judging criteria for the MSC ?
We look at the way the surfer moves, tricks, manouvres, speed, power and the quality of the waves surferd.

What are the difficulties with judging ?
No Waves!

Why did you decide to become a judge and since you have been a judge which contest has been the most impressive?
Because I love surfing and I wanted to do something to support the grommets develop their surfing. The most impressive contest was the MSC at Maharani, Kuta Beach

How is the development of judges now and what do you hope for 2009?
Really good, the ISC judges are great. I hope there are lots of contests for the grommets in 2009.

How are the grommets developing with their surfing?
They are really improving, they surf like crazy and their progress is really fast.
