After days of waiting we finally caught up with Kadek Sudarsana a.k.a Atenk Chibi. Seems like he is not just busy surfing. We caught up with him when he was on his way home from fishing for squid which we wanted because they were so big and fresh.

 

Surfing

He started surfing in year 6 because his friends often took him to the beach while they were surfing. Yudi Andika taught him to surf and he’s been addicted ever since. He usually surfs at Sanur Reef and around Biaung.

He’d love to try spots around Bukit and Nusa Dua but he hasn’t been there yet as he doesn’t have any friends to take him, hehe.

He hopes he can eventually earn a living from surfing like other surfers who have sponsors. He says the key is being enthusiastic and trying hard but he hasn’t got a sponsor yet, hehe. He’s just praying.

His worst experience was when his stomach got scraped on the reef when his legrope broke. He only had one legrope at the time and it was lost so he didn’t have one, but now he has lots of legropes. Hehe

His idols are Andy Irons and local surfer Wayan Suartika a.k.a Atenk because he has the same nickname as me. (*wkakak)

 Interests

He likes fishing, usually he fishes for squid with his friends and he also likes listening to music. He hangs out at his friend’s house or at places with wifi near his house.

Girls ?! He had a girlfriend but now he’s single. It was a tragic story so no need to go over it again here. Single girls should come on over!! He would like to go out with a surfer girl so they can share but he’s a bit worried that she might surf better than him!!!

He likes watching comedy movies but if he watches TV he likes soap operas…hehe!

His favourite food is noodle soup with squid he has caught himself, it’s the best!!!

 

Goals

He wants to keep on surfing, get a sponsor, become a great surfer and be a successful surf guide, but mostly he just wants to keep surfing.
