Ombak Bali International Surf Film Festival

4 day free outdoor surf film festival celebrates new surf films, epic surf shots and groovey sounds.


Films
The complete film and music line-up for the 2010 edition is out. 
The festival kicks off on July 21 with the inspiring short feature ‘Gum for my Boat’ and the Hawaii surf photography documentary ‘Fiberglass and Megapixels’. 
Over the next days the public can check out the new Patrick Trefz film ‘Idiosyncrasies’ about some of surfing's most influential underground individuals and the German river surfing flick ‘Keep Surfing’. Director of ‘Keep Surfing’, Bjorn R. Lob, will come over to Bali to join the screening of his film. Visual whirlwind ‘Castles in the Sky’ will close off the event on Saturday July 24.
And lot’s of shorts this year as ombak Bali is screening the winners of the short surf film contest of the Surfilmfestibal in Spain.

ART
Ombak Bali/ Surf Time Photo Exhibition
New this edition is the Surf Photo Contest & Exhibition. The best 15 shots will be on exhibit at the festival and the winning photo will be announced on opening night, July 21 at 7pm where it will be rewarded with 2.000.000 Rupiah. The exhibit is free of charge and is open day and night between July 21 and 24. 


Music
The festival will be topped off with live sounds presented by Rhythm which brings together a unique group of musicians. Daily performances by dj’s and live bands playing reggae, jazzy funk and hiphop. To name a few bands: Pandora, Marapu and Ozlem.

Castles in the Sky Asian premiere

El Mar, mi alma Asian premiere                      Stephen Jones/ Chili& Australia/ 2010/ 5’             From the backdrop of an environmental campaign road trip, this is a visual tone poem of Chile's beauty and association with the sea, centered around the affectionate act of surfing.

Fiberglass and Megapixels Asian premiere

God Went Surfing with the Devil Asian premiere                               Alexander Klein/ Israel& USA/ 2010/ 84’/ English subtitles                                                                    At the end of 2007 a group of young men was surfing in Gaza, sharing some old ruined boards, when Israel decided to seal the borders. Gum for my Boat Asian premiere

Short feature tells a story of hope focusing on the Bangladesh Surf Club and its members. Many of the kids come from the streets. Hanging Five Asian premiere
