Yeah...he is Jerink (drummer SID), well known 'bad boy' and environmental activist. So how did he end up surfing now? What does he get from surfing? Check this interview with Jerinx…

Tommy comes from Klungkung and first started surfing on a plywood boogie board. After a few months he started surfing on a board he borrowed from Piping. He got his nickname because of famous surfers Tom Carroll and Tom Curren. He got his own first 6’3 board from a tourist.

I first started when I was around 15 at Carita Beach using my brothers’s board. It was school holidays and I was still living in Jakarta so I couldn’t surf everyday. At first I tried by myself and even though I nose-dived I didn’t give up. The next school holidays my brother took me to Bali and I went surfing at Halfway – Kuta. You know what the waves at Halfway are like….from then I wanted to keep surfing.

This young man from Nusa Lembongan finished his formal education at the end of junior high school and did not get the chance to go to senior high school.     “I couldn’t go onto senior high school because my father had an accident at work. He fell off a roof and broke his leg and the medical bills were so high that I didn’t want to burden him further by asking for money for school” said Lahirun, who is now 21.

Singing is not a new thing for I Wayan Gede Jendri. Before he was a contestant on Indonesian Idol he was part of a band when he was in high school. Unfortunately the band, called ANTZ, was forced to break up when they graduated from high school.
