This time Kim talks about the government support of the development of surfing in Indonesia and back in the 70s when he was active in surfing competitions and organising surfing in Bali. Kim believes that if surfing in Indonesia is to progress it must have support from the government. In the past ex Bali governor Ida Bagus Mantra said “ Surfing is just in Bali” but now surfing is all over Indonesia because all areas have waves suitable for surfing.

Kim was happy to talk to us about the development of surfing in Indonesia. Surfing started in Kuta which was just a fishing village at the time with only a few families, not as crowded as it is now and you didn’t have to go all the way around on the road like you do now.

Kim had just recovered from swollen gums after having a tooth extracted and seemed a bit cheered up by the visit from
his old friend Piping. Kim isn’t as active as he used to be promoting surfing but through his stories about the history of surfing in Indonesia he motivates the young generation to continue their progress not just for themselves but also
for future generations of surfers in Indonesia.

After being absent for a few editions, Kim Bradley is back this month having just returned from a trip to visit friends in Sumatra. Kim suffers from skin cancer and is looking much healthier than the last time we saw him.
