Surf Rescue in Padma

On 17th of July Soul Surfer instructor  Balla performed a rescue like from the famous movie Big Wednesday. Balla and fellow local surfer from Padma beach where surfing late 4.30pm in the afternoon. With the swell on the increase the waves were on the large size and with many strong currents. Co worker from surf school Yopi said that conditions were becoming extreme as he looked on the situation. Local surfer had taken a wave and was crushed in the shore break zone, the finding himself in trouble with the strong currents. In the wake of it all Balla looking on out backside realise he had to help and catch another big wave in search of the stranded surfer .Balla a experience beach worker for many years had the goods . Local surfer’s leash had snap with the impact of the wipe out so Balla assisted by giving his own board to guide the powerless surfer. On this occasion the victim survive, considering last years fatalities  this  tourist season only just started.

Yopi then added that the beach area from Legian to Padma Lifeguard patrol was a long stretch of beach unpatrolled with many dangerous rips and current. Over the past few years many stories have come about swimmers having trouble in the area on big swell days and thought that patrols from lifeguards should be regular or even another Lifeguard station put at the beach on big days next to surf school operations. The boys from surf school are all experienced in beach activities and a new lifeguard station could strengthen relationships to all business and tourism in Padma Beach.
