(Malaysia, December 21, 2008): Cherating Beach local Mamat climbed atop the podium this afternoon to accept his first place Men's Open Division victory after a brilliant display of surfing under testing conditions in the closely contested final. He received the grand prize of a new Billabong surfboard, a Nixon watch, Billabong backpack, T-shirt, and boardshorts.

Sunday morning the 9th November 2008, the Groms of Senggigi got together for their very own surf comp. Held in 3ft glassy conditions, it could only be described as a complete success.

Small 1 to 1.5 meter waves and rainy conditions did not stop surfing competitors from giving their best today at Halfway Beach in Kuta. As the sun set Gazali Hamzah (Under 16) and Koko Mitsuantara (Under 14) emerged victorious from their brief yet intense final match ups. Semifinalists had been picked through prior wins at Rip Curl GromSearch contests around Indonesia in Java, Lombok, and Bali. Those surfing today represented Indonesia’s surfing future with ages ranging from 10 to 16.

The "best all girls surf shop in the world" set out to produce " the "most fun all girls competition in the world" and on Sunday they did just that.  Using the Coca-Cola ISC Women's Division competition as the basis for the event, the exuberant crew at Surfer Girl created darn near 24 hours of activity around it, turning out a very big "first time ever all girls surfing event" at the most popular and world renown beach this side of the planet….on Kuta Beach

PHILIPPINES surfer Edito ‘Peso’ Alcala is the new king of Cloud 9 after defeating the world’s best tube riders to win the prestigious Billabong Cloud 9 Invitational at the remote island of Siargao in the Philippines.

Cloud 9, an ultra perfect right hand reef break, lived up to expectation, serving out epic 2-2.5 metre barrelling waves for the final day of competition surfing.

Akiko Kiyonoga raced through four rounds of surfing in the Women's surfing event of the Asian Beach Games at Kuta Beach to claim a gold medal for Japan today.  The silver was taken home by Indonesia's Yasniar Gea. 

20 year old Garut Widiarta Rip Curl’s rider from Bali became the first surfer in history to win a gold medal in the sport of surfing at an Olympic event at Kuta Beach in Bali, Indonesia. The talented young surfer proudly held up the Indonesian flag as he and silver medalist Raditya Rondi accepted the cheers of the crowd in front of the
judging tower.

Yuta Morimoto from Japan put on an exciting display of Lonboarding expertise at Kuta Beach today, pulling the top combination score of the surfing competition and a 9 point ride, breaking out numerous trips to the nose and back and mixing it up with big turns, floaters, and cutbacks to come back to the beach with Japan's first surfing Olympic gold medal.

Indonesia's Dede Suryana completely dominated the Aerial competition at the Asian Beach Games in Bali today.  Suryana leapt to the lead in the first heat of the day and consistently outscored his opponents in every subsequent heat through to the final, racking up 8 and 9 point waves with regularity and leaving the rest of the field far behind.
